KaTO is a group of architects, engineers, designers, and researchers which creates projects of significant social impact. Our work is driven by a deep fascination with the role of architecture in advancing places of greatest need, in the resolution of political conflict, and in disaster relief.
In every project, we are concerned with greater questions about how to empower entire regions, rather than only address the immediate needs for one building. We then complete comprehensive research to understand the complexities of the places where we will build. Through this, we discover what our greatest limitations will be, so our designs can be informed by these parameters.
While much of our work concentrates on underprivileged regions, we also are working on large commercial, civic and educational projects in the U.S. and internationally. Our projects span a wide range of scales and typologies, from single classroom schools to large urban projects. KaTO currently has projects under construction and in development in the U.S. (Continental and Puerto Rico), Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Dominican Republic, India and Pakistan.
In addition to our role as design architect, we have been responsible for delivering the projects currently under construction, including construction documents and administration.
